When our clients engage in behaviours contrary to their stated goals its tempting to attribute them to lack of willpower or discipline. Yet naming the problem does not by it self make our attribution accurate nor does it necessarily present a solution. When we talk about willpower, what is it and where does this attribute reside? Willpower is a function of the pre-frontal lobes. Therefore, if you want to strengthen ones willpower the frontal lobes are a good place to start.
